Event Overview

As part of the Africa Climate Summit 2, held under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development,” this side event will explore how Ethiopia’s emerging capital markets can be harnessed to drive climate-aligned investment and sustainability reporting.

The theme of the side event — “Greening Ethiopia’s Capital Markets: Pathways to Green Investment and Enhanced Reporting” — reflects Ethiopia’s unique opportunity to embed sustainability principles into its financial market architecture from the outset. With the establishment of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) and the recent launch of the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), the country is poised to become a regional leader in green finance.

This session will convene key market players including regulators, investors, private sector actors, and development partners to discuss how Ethiopia can build a green financial ecosystem that supports both investment and accountability.
